Can You Wake Surf Behind Any Boat?

Feb 28, 2022 | Wake Surfing, Wakesurfing Boats

You can safely wake surf behind any boat that has an inboard motor. Any boat that has its motor or propellor exposed is not safe to wake surf behind. While it is still possible to surf behind some outboard engines, it’s not worth it to risk your safety. The reason it’s not safe is that wake surfing requires you to be within 10 feet of the boat in order to freely ride the wave. Putting too much weight on the front of your board will cause you to shoot forward toward the back of the boat, putting the rider at serious risk of injury. Therefore you can not wake surf behind any boat.
